FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you help if we have no in-house government affairs staff?

Yes. We are set up to provide end-to-end support, from establishing a policy and regulatory affairs function through to execution. For companies that already have government affairs staff, we join the team to complement their expertise in specialist areas.

How are engagements structured, and what do they cost?

We generally work on a monthly retainer. Because we propose the scope and fees according to the issues and the support required, please contact us first to discuss your situation.

Do you guarantee results?

Policy and regulatory outcomes depend on many variables, including the political situation and public debate, so we cannot promise a specific result. If a firm does guarantee results, it is most likely either not facing the uncertainty of the policy process honestly or offering a service with little substance behind it. What we promise is to design and execute the best approach at each stage of the policy decision-making process.

What kinds of companies work with you?

We mainly support companies in areas where technology intersects with policy and regulation, including the Japanese subsidiaries of global technology companies, domestic startups, and industry associations.

What fields are you strongest in?

We have handled many complex regulatory issues in areas where technology intersects with policy and regulation, including mobility, the sharing economy, AI, and cybersecurity.
